JOHN DONS THE McKEOWN TARTAN.

LES McKEOWN, the most famous Bay City Roller of all time, will soon be guesting on Isle of Wight Radio's John Hannam Meets. As the name of John's 20 year show suggests, he only interviews his guests in-person. Les had been sat in a London studio all day doing down-the-line interviews with radio stations all over Britain - and he did not see any of the presenters. That changed at 4-30 when John turned up to meet him. They instantly hit it off and had a lot of fun which will please listeners. There are also ten tracks from the Rollers new greatest hits album.

JOHN AND LAWRIE MAC REUNITED FOR BLIND SOCIETY.

John got to know Lawrie McMenemy as a good friend in the big man's Dell days with Southampton Football Club. The last time they met was at St Mary's in 2007 when Lawrie invited John and his son, Sean, to join his dinner party before a home game with Leiceter City. This was a few months after John lost his wife, Heather, also well known to Lawrie, with breast cancer. Big Mac's sympathy was much appreciated by John's family.

On Friday October 15 Lawrie is coming to the Riverside Centre, Newport, for a special appearance to raise money for the Isle of Wight Society For The Blind. The evening, from 7pm until 11pm, will include a three course meal and the opportuinty to meet Lawrie, ask questions and be photographed with him. John will compere the evening and also interview Lawrie about his memories of the glory days for The Saints.

Tickets, priced at £38, are available from Dave Duffy on 01983 718151 or 0789067009. His e-mail is daveduffy@talktalk.net
