WC AUGUST 1

Another happy Monday thanks to an interview with the multi-talented Julian
Fellowes, the creator and writer of the superb Downton Abbey. I spent a nice hour with him in a lovely Bembridge home and we talked about his worldwide TV hit, his acting success in series like Our Friends In The North, Knights of God, Monarch of the Glen and movies which include Damage, Tomorrow Never Comes and Shadowlands. He also won an Oscar for the screenplay of Gosford Park. Julian is in the House of Lords and a very active charity worker. Listen out for him on John Hannam Meets just a week before Downton abbey comes back to our screens.

A huge house of nearly 500 were present on Tuesday night at Shanklin Theatre to see a great evening of fun from Joe Pasquale. It was a glorious evening of ‘cack’, as Joe describes it. I had a pleasent surprise when I took my daughter, also a friend of Joe, and a couple of relatives to see him back stage. Joe gave me a lovely book on Island history, which I did not have, and signed it for me. In my 39 year history of interviewing stars only three have personally given me books, as presents, – Joe, Tom O’Connor and Kenneth McKellar
