WC FEBRUART 19

Had another birthday – and I think I’ll leave it there!!!! Richard Digance, an old friend of mine, is heading for the Medina Theatre on Saturday March 10 – and he’s agreed to come back on to my radio show. We plan to get together in the next few days. He’s got some great new tracks on 2 recent albums.

It was quite a day on Wednesday and something happened for the first time in over 30 years. I have been attending shows at the Mayflower since the 70s and have never been driven back to the Red Jet by the star of the show. We went to the brilliant Sister Act and at the end we waited to see Denise Black, who I had interviewed a week or two ago in Eastbourne. She had requested a copy of her appearance on John Hannam Meets, including the music etc. Knowing we had the Red Jet to catch she actuially took us down to the ferry in her car. Rare treatment, indeed. Her treatment from a Southampton traffic warden had not been so enjoyable. We got back to her car and there was a parking ticket. The parking was free, after six, and Denise had parked at 5-58pm and was booked a minute later. I hope she sets the nuns on him!.

On the ferry home I had texts from both my young people to tell me that an old friend, Frank Carson, had died. I must have interviewed him at least six times. The last being in 2006, when I picked him at Ryde Pier to take him to Warner’s Bembridge. What a night that was – and the car was rocking with laughter. I will repeat part of that interview to celebrate his life and will send a fascinating story to the CP.
