The wonderful Geoffrey Hughes was given a memorable send off at the Wootton Crematorium. It was a full house with many outside and his fine life was celebrated in such a glorious manner. It was sad but the love for him made it such a remarkable occasion. There were no hymns, prayers or bible readings – just amazing music, both live and recorded, and many outstanding and poignant tributes. It was just how Geoffrey would have wanted it. TV stars, Island dignitaries, local friends and musicians joined the family to celebrate his life. The live music from members of Fairport Convention and friends was brilliantly performed. Full marks to John Gaunt who conducted the service in just the right spirit.

An interview in London has been confirmed for Deacon Blue who have a brilliant new album on release. Listen out for founder member Ricky Ross on JH Meets.

My mobile went the other night and I was confronted with one of the worst and most competitive records I have ever heard. Before the end I was convinced only Joe Pasquale would play that kind of trick on me – and was proved exactly right. Nice one Joe – great fun.
