WC MAY 20.

Went to the press night of Birds of a Feather on Tuesday night at the Mayflower, Southampton, and it is one of the funniest shows I have seen for some considerable time. It features the three great stars from the original TV show, Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph and is full of wonderful lines, superb acting and is a joy from start to finish – and is perfectly timed at two hours. I could go again and again.

Had a great afternoon on Wednesday talking to three WI groups at the Northwood Institute. It all seemed to go rather well – and the tea and cakes were perfect. Met one or two old friends – which is always a pleasure.

Thursday was another great day – four interviews at the Mayflower, Southampton. It began with the very likeable Keith Chegwin and a former World Figure skating champion – Olga Sharutenko, who partnered him in the last series of Dancing on Ice. They will be teaming up again, on ice, at the Mayflower, from November 19 to 23. They were both in fine form. An hour or so later I went back for a second interview with Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson, from Birds of a Feather. It was at their invitation. They asked for a part 2 interview following our recent one in Eastbourne. Once again, it was such a great pleasure.

The week ended well with a Sunday morning interview with Celia Imrie who talks about her latest TV series, Love and Marriage, which begins on ITV on Wednesday June 5 at 9pm. What a list of stars, too! It’s always a pleasure to meet up with Celia. We have been friends since the 70s.
