WC JUNE 17.

On Tuesday it was a real honour to open the 25th anniversary celebrations of the St Mary’s Breast Screening unit and the Breast Care Nurses. They had looked after my late wife Heather with so much care and professionalism. Met one or two old friends – and the cakes were nice – too.

On Thursday we had the perfect day – with a morning interview in Bembridge with one of the most talented people I know – American born Larry Holofcener, a songwriter, sculptor, actor, painter, novelist and playwright. A real gent, too. I also love his great wife Julia. He will be heard soon on John Hannam Meets, along with some of the songs he wrote sung by Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Junior and Danny Kaye. On the way home we went to one of our favourite places on the Island – Quarr Abbey. The soup was brilliant, too.

I have found an old cassette I recorded at least 40 years ago. It was Craig Douglas in cabaret at the Webbington Country Club, Weston Super Mare. I just stuck a mike on our table, near the stage, and recorded it on an old cassette recorder. Hopefully, a friend may make it even better than it is.

Just had confirmation of an interview with two of my favourite actors. Hopefully, all will be revealed soon.
