WC August 26.

The week started off brilliantly. I have been looking for a book called Perfect England – The Isle of Wight In The 60s. It is out of print and even the author did not have any available. Amazon had one for £50 and another book specialist, in Wales, had one for £25 plus postage. I went to the Calbourne Antiques Fair, because my girlfriend wanted to go, and ended up finding a copy for £10 – and it was in perfect condition. I also got a great book on the big band era. My late father would have loved it. We popped in to see my old friend Bill Brett and came away with an old pint bottle, complete with label, of a Kixse lemondade bottle. This took me back to my very first job at Gould, Hibberd
and Randall.

I love interview surprises and I had just that on Thursday when I headed to the Southampton Mayflower to interview the writer of a new musical called Carnaby Street. Carl Leighton-Pope turned out have an amazing story. His life has involved so many stars – Bryan Adams, Michael Buble, Dire Straits, Chippendales, Harlem Globe Trotters, Simple Minds, Bonnie Tyler, Nems, the Marquee Club – and so it goes on. He is appearing twice on John Hannam Meets in the next few weeks.

Just had confirmation of two interviews next Tuesday – and both guests are quite different for John Hannam Meets. Interviews are now coming in all the time – a reminder that summer is over. I can hardly wait to meet some of them.
