WC OCTOBER 7.

On Monday morning I nipped out to Seaview to record an interview with Barrie Millership, about his wonderful new book – The Mighty Hybrid and the Keeper of the Slabs. A great book about his life and the story of a bass guitar, unique to the Isle of Wight. Listen out for him soon on John Hannam Meets – and also for my book review in the County Press Weekender.

On Tuesday I headed to London to meet Jonathan and Charlotte, the runners up in last year’s Britain’s Got Talent. I was having lunch in the Pizza Express opposite the BBC when I had a phone call to say that Jonathan had been taken ill and left the recording studio. In the end, Charlotte bravely took on 21 interviews on her own – and I was the only one she saw all day. The rest were recorded down-the-line. She was quite brilliant – and, I understand, does most of the talking anyway.

Saturday was a perfect day – other than that my lovely late wife Heather could not be there. It would have been our Golden Wedding. We remembered her in a wonderful trip on a canal – a life-long ambition of mine. It was a day to celebrate and not be mournful. Luckily both Sean, and his new wife Susie, and Caroline were able to join me. Caroline had a week off from her tour with Cabaret, as it was break for the whole company. We had a wonderful trip on the Regents Canal and a super meal in a canal side restaurant. A day to remember.

The week concluded with the news I have secured several major interviews, including one I have been chasing for over 20 years.
