WC FEBRUARY 10 and 17.

I am delighted several local people have agreed to come on to John Hannam Meets. I am trying to get a nice mix of both famous and local personalities. I am trying not to always choose the obvious. One Islander who has confirmed a date in March has worked with some of our biggest recording stars of the last 30 years. I can barely wait to interview him.

Just when I thought it was safe to go out – after around 20 pantomimes, two more have turned up. I went to Newchurch on Thursday night to Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood. Such an enhusiastic cast but they could have done with a few more men – a problem many amateur companies have. The pupils of Newchurch Primary were outstanding and brought the house down.

Delighted to have an interview with a triple TV reality show winner in the next few weeks. All will be revealed soon.

Had a wonderful pre-birthday evening at the Mayflower, Southampton, on Thursday night, when I went to see Warhorse. What an amazing show and the place was full to the rafters. Such an emotional event. A theatre experience of the highest quality.

Two days later I had the pleasure of taking Shaw Taylor and his lovely partner, Shirley, to a matinee performance of The Hollow at Shanklin Theatre. Shaw played the part of DS Penny in the original London production, back in 1951. He can’t be that old!!! They both loved the show and he made some nice public remarks at the curtain call when he was introduced to the audience. He also met the cast after the show. It was another wonderful theatre experience – and this time from superb local amateurs.
