WC September 14

Went to the Mayflower on Monday night to see Priscilla – Queen of the Desert. Just a wee bit different to the Glenn Miller Story from the previous week. I did enjoy it and the young lady I took with me was in her element and loved every minute of the show. I was so impressed with Duncan James who was quite brilliant in the show, as were many others in the company.

I went back the next day to interview Duncan and it worked out so well. He was in fine form at the Mayflower panto launch. Whilst I was waiting to interview Duncan Joe Pasquale popped into the room to see me and much fun was enjoyed.

Friday was a day I hoped would run smoothly. It was going to be a job to fit everything in – nothing changes then! Met close friends for coffee in the morning, went to Sainsburys shopping, then I had to prepare for two things in the evening. Hilary O’Neil a showbiz friend for over 30 years was starring in cabaret at Warner’s Norton Grange, Yarmouth. Hilary, who has appeared so many times on TV, first hit real fame in the 80s series Copy Cats – and has never looked back. We first met when she did 16 weeks at Sandown Pavilion in the summer of 1984. I nipped over to interview her around 5-45 and then it was straight to Wootton where I was giving a talk at the Methodist Church Hall. Arrived just in time, had a great time with a new talk and then I headed back to Yarmouth to catch Hilary’s cabaret act – and good it was, too. Songs, jokes and great impressions. A great live performer who appears on so many cruise liners. She has the best impression of Joe Pasquale I have ever heard. I was so proud of her performance. She is on JH Meets on Sunday September 27.
