I went to the Cowes WI on Monday night to talk to a room full of lovely ladies. I enjoyed the experience and they were a very receptive audience. I was thrilled to sell 11 books after my talk.
Had a few days off as my daughter Caroline was on a rare visit home. We did go to Funny Girl on Tuesday night at the Mayflower, Southampton. Sheridan Smith was quite superb in the starring role. I enjoyed it but not quite as much as other shows I have recently seen, like Evita, The Million Dollar Quartet, The Wedding Singer and The Addams Family.
Caroline took me to Ventnor’s Botanical Gardens on Wednesday. This was my first visit since they have made an entry charge. It was an amazing experience and well worth the money. If you buy an entry ticket this is for 7 days and you can go back as much as you want. There is also a free car park ticket for a week. There are tours of the underground tunnel and the old boiler house where they grow mushrooms. I went back two days later. Two of the guides were so entertaining and informative.
