WC DECEMBER 11 BLOG

I’m always keen to see the First Act shows at Shanklin Theatre and I went there on Monday to cover The Snow Queen for the County Press. It was another amazing night and they always manage to lift your pre-Christmas spirits. This was their 50th production and to see what they have achieved since 1994 is quite remarkable. For Carol Laidler and her team it’s been such a satisfying 23 years. They have enriched the lives of so many adults with learning difficulties. I’ve seen virtually every one of their shows – and have never failed to create a tear of emotion from their efforts.

I was thrilled to find out on Tuesday that my new John Hannam Meets interviews are now also available on YouTube. There has already been quite an interest in my chat with Len Goodman. The next new one will feature famous British blues and rock singer ZOOT MONEY.

Had a nice pre-Christmas surprise on Thursday when my daughter, Caroline, arrived home for a couple of days. She’s currently working on Evita.

On Friday night I went to Ryde to pick up Caroline from the 40th birthday party of her lifelong friend, Laura Holme. I stayed for 90 minutes and, as ever, enjoyed the DJ skills of Dave Cannon, from Solent City Sound. It was the first time I’d been to the Town Club, Ryde since I saw Tina St Clair in cabaret there, back in the ’70s.

On Saturday I had a very enjoyable book signing session at the Old Smithy, Godshill. Met some old friends and made a few new ones.
