That was a week – that was. On Tuesday I headed to London’s Electric Airwaves Studio, who are always so kind to me, to interview one of Britain’s greatest soul singers ZOOT MONEY. We had last met at the Westridge Leisure Centre, Ryde, back in 1988. He has a brand new 90 track box set, called Big Time Operator. He was in great form and we had such great fun. The next day I was back to London to interview the one and only LEN GOODMAN. This time it was the Wise Buddah Studio. They always are so hospitable. What a great guy and we really enjoyed ourselves. I know he enjoyed it because he wrote in my book “It’s ten from Len.” I was very flattered. He talked about so many things, including his love for the Isle of Wight. He’s just released a three CD box set called Len’s Legends, featuring some of his all-time favourite British singers and songs. It’s a gem for nostalgia lovers.
On Thursday afternoon we spent a pleasant hour with MELVYN HAYES. He’s in my latest book and featured in my Beacon article for December. Such wonderful company.
On Saturday, after going for a run across the downs, I headed for Whitecroft to see Whitecroft Barton take on Liss in the Hampshire Intermediate Cup. It was a super game and the Island side won on penalties. Apparently, the mainland team had made a few complaints before the game, so it was justice well done.
On Sunday I had another good day at Busy Bee, Ryde. It was so nice to meet old friends and make a few new ones. I enjoy signing copies of my books. It makes all the hard work worthwhile.
