WC NOVEMBER 19

It’s always nice to start the week off with a real high – and that happened on Monday. Despite the warnings of not to travel to London due to Waterloo problems, I was determined to keep my lunchtime appointment with Bruce Welch. I arrived at Southampton Central expecting to try and get to London via Reading, to avoid Waterloo. The ticket checker told there was a train to Waterloo in 10 minutes – and I made it in time. Bruce, who I recently had met at a Palladium soundcheck for Duane Eddy, was such a joy to interview and it’s even better when you can’t stop them talking. We hit it off and I got my longest interview ever.

The train back was not quite so favourable. The 2-35 train to Southampton was on time and it was great until we got to Woking. After a short holdup, we were told there was a broken down goods train further up the line and we would divert via Guildford, Havant and Fareham to Southampton. They made the right move but the trip took over an hour longer than the normal trip – 2 hours 25 minutes, in fact. Full credit top South Western Railway they did get us back to Southampton. It was a day to savour – and I was so glad it didn’t end with a shopping trip around Southampton with my partner and her sister. Lovely ladies – but shopping!!!

Took the chance of a couple days at home to continue writing my 2019 book, which is volume 2 of The Wight Connections. Now up to 40 of the 100 chapters.

I should have been on Radio Solent’s Alex Dyke Show on Friday. It was going to be broadcast from Newport. Then a last minute change of plan, due to unforeseen circumstances. Alex had to race back to the mainland to broadcast from Southampton. I will be appearing in the next week or two.

Ended the week with a successful book signing at Busy Bee. They have taken more stock, as they are selling well. Will be back there on Sunday December 9. It’s always nice to meet old friends there and make a few new ones. I even got booked for a new Ryde Festival in March 2019.
