WC June 8.

Very frustrating time with no prospect of any forthcoming interviews. I had high hopes of interviewing several of my own personal favourites during this summer but all the shows have been cancelled or postponed.

Thankfully, I am kept busy by writing archive features for the County Press. The latest two have featured the late Island cricketer DAVE PORTER and the former professional footballer WES MAUGHAN.

I’m also delighted The Beacon magazine is back in July and the John Hannam Interview will feature a very famous and popular television star. In fact, she was in one of the best comedy series ever seen on TV.

I have also managed to undertake my first face to face interview since the lockdown began. No rules were broken and it was out in the open and we were at the correct social distance. This was to update on the sporting prowess of anĀ  Island lady I first interviewed in 1983. All is likely to be revealed in the June 19 issue of the County Press.

Sad to hear of the death of pop singer RICKY VALANCEĀ  (pictured) who took Tell Laura I Love Her to the top of the charts. The first time I met him, back in the 70s, he gave me a rough time. He came to Sandown to appear in a gig for the Island Rock ‘n’ Roll Society. The next time we chatted was around 25 years later in Bembridge. He had changed so much, had discovered God and was such a delight to chat to. Sadly he has just died of dementia at the age of 84. He was only known for the one hit but, in fact, made some other quite superb records.
