WC APRIL 18.

Wednesday became busy with an interview with the wonderful Tony Christie in Southampton, on his warm-up gig before his 50 date British tour, to celebrate his 50 years in the business and his exciting new album Now Is The Time. There was a hint he may be coming the the Island later this year. I love chatting to Tony and he is a supreme professional, on and off stage. I dashed back to talk to the Gurnard WI group and had a most enjoyable evening. The members all came dressed as if they were going to a wedding, complete with some gorgeous hats. I dressed up to join in the spirit of the evening. I am not so sure about watching next Friday’s Royal Wedding!!!

Listen out soon for an interivew with Ian Reddington – the only male actor ever to have had major parts in both EastEnders and Coronation Street. He is currently playing Pop in We Will Rock You, at the Mayflower, Southampton, and I saw the brilliant show in Cardiff. Ian played Tricky Dicky in EastEnders, for a 100 episodes, and the drummer, Vernon Tomlin, in Coronation Street. He married Liz McDonald in the series and was in over 200 episodes. We had not met each other since 1982, when he appeared in a show at the old Prince Consort Theatre in Ryde.

Had a great Saturday, night with over 500 other Islanders, at the sell-out Chas ‘n’ Dave gig at the Shanklin Theatre. It was a warm night but an even hotter reception for Chas ‘n’ Dave on their farewell tour. Certainly a night to remember. I had a quick chat backstage as we go back over 30 years.
