WC APRIL 25

Delighted to know that tickets are moving well for the Isle of Wight Radio gig on Thursday May 12 at the Newclose Cricket Club, Blackwater, at 7-30pm. It is to celebrate the first 21 years of John Hannam Meets and will comprise a fish and chip supper and yours truly talking about my near 40 years of interviewing. Tickets, priced at £10 are available from IW Radio. There are details on my radio page and from the IW Radio website.

Just had confirmation from Reg Presley that he is up for another appearance on John Hannam Meets. Our last interview was recorded on a very sad day – it had just been announced that Roy Castle had died. My son, Sean, was with me and we heard the sad news during a hold-up on the motorway.

Several fascinating interviews are currently being arranged and more details will soon follow.

Shanklin Theatre are promoting some great shows at present. Last Saturday it was a brilliant Chas ‘n’ Dave night and this week Barry Cryer was in great form. I had interviewed Barry on a couple of occasions but this was the first time I had seen him in concert. TV producer Graham Benson was there and he had quite a party with him. When I interviewed Barry in London, during March, he rang up in the evening to ask if he had been too much of a grumpy old man at lunchtime. I assured him he hadn’t been.
