WC APRIL 16

On Monday night I went to the Medina Theatre, Newport, to watch the new Red Tie short movie, starring local actors, called Dying to Know. It was quite an emotional experience and will be used throughout great Britain in conjuction with some hospices. Congratuations to all concerned and it was such a well organised evening by the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

On Tuesday I nipped up to London’s Wyndham’s Theatre to interview legendary character actor Ian McNeice, currently playing Winston Churchill in The King’s Speech. I love him as Bert Large in Doc Martin – but wouldn’t let him touch my water pipes or eat in his Cornish restaurant!!! What a really lovely man – and we had fun. We are both proud to have been born in Hampshire.

What a busy week!! My pacemaker was put to the test on Wednesday when I went up to Woking to interview four Calendar Girls – Lynda Bellingham, Sue Holderness, Ruth Madoc and Jan Harvey. Somehow – it kept ticking. I love mature ladies and real experienced actors – and these four lovely people fit perfectly into both catergories. One of the best 45 minutes of my 22 years as a radio chat show host. They even liked my matching pink shirt and socks.
