WC JULY 9

It’s a real change to have a lighter week with just two shows and two interviews – but I hope it doesn’t last for too long. On Monday night we went to Ryde School to see their production of West Side Story. It continued their great success wave of recent years. A little long at nearly 3 hours and with the hard seats I got numb in the bum!! The youngsters and the band made up for any aches and pains.

Thankfully, there seems a lot of interest in my interview column in the Beacon. On Tuesday I spent a couple of hours in the company of my next guest – and she’s one of the nicest Island ladies I have ever met – and we go back a long way.

Delighted to nip down to the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, Fishbourne, at Wednesday teatime to interview Island-born movie producer and casting director Sarah Beardsall, who has a fascinating story that comes right up to date with the movie The Scapegoat, due for a nationwide premiere in September. She has cast some huge stars during her career.

Went to Chichester on Thursday afternoon to see a brilliant play called The Resistible Rise of Arturo UI, starring Henry Goodman, who was sensational in the leading role, and two guests I have recently interviewed, Joe McGann and Michael Feast. In the Minerva Theatre the action is so close to the audience and being set in the Chicago gangster days there are plenty of guns and dead bodies. An amazing theatre experience. It runs until July 28.
