WC MAY 13.

Went to the Mayflower on Monday night to see The Rocky Horror Show – and loved it. Dani Harmer, Sam Attwater, Philip Franks and Oliver Thornton were all in brilliant form. We had a great surprise going over to find that some well known names from Island theatre companies were dressed for the show – and many looked so good. I’m not sure about Joe Plumb!!! Not the sort of woman you would want to meet in a Newport backstreet late at night!! I wonder if his pupils at Carisbrooke College are aware of his Rocky antics – suspenders and all. My girlfriend had turned down my offer of a night out (she told me it was the show and not yours truly)and I would not expect my lovely sister-in-law to appreciate the finer points of Rocky Horror. I took an undertaker’s wife – and she loved the show. The last time I took her to the Mayflower it was to see Spamalot. In one of the early scenes a cart was wheeled on stage and the cry was “throw your dead up here.” I looked at her and she was smiling. It’s a lot more civilised in Totland.

I had a fascinating interview on Thursday with Islander Chris Holmes, who flies all over the world for British Airways. He’s got some great stories and memories.

I saw a rather boring play this week – and I think I might leave it there. I felt sorry for the cast. It was one of two plays I have seen in the past week.
