Monday got off to a great start with my second talk, within two months, at the Cowes Probus Club. Love the guys and they seem to like my stories. Nice to meet a few old friends and make a few new ones. Nice to see my good friend Josh Barry in the audience. He shares my love for the real old stars of showbiz.
Later that day I went to interview Reuben Abbott at Isle of Wight Lavender. He recently won the IW Ploughing Match for the third year running. What a great character and he was in good form. This can be heard on John Hannam Meets on Sunday October 4 at 2 and 10pm.
Had a super Thursday night compering the first ever Age
UK Isle of Wight Awards Night at the Lakeside Spa. It was well organised, a great atmosphere and there were many well deserved award winners and several others who were nominated for their achievements. Met one or two old friends and made a few new ones.
Went to the golden wedding celebrations for Josie and Cyril Morey at the Shanklin Conservative Club on Saturday night. A super evening and such nice company. Pessimists said their marriage would never last – that was 50 years ago. Well done Josie and Cyril for proving them wrong.
