WC JANUARY 4.

This week has mainly been preparing and recording the new regular weekly JH Meets podcasts. The first, the archive edition with BOBBY VEE, is now on line and available from the IW Radio website, I-Tunes and there is a link from the radio page of this website. The first new interviews edition has been slightly delayed but should be on line very soon. This features TV and stage actor DIANE FLETCHER and local Island singer BERNIE CULLEN. Sorry for the delay. Just a few early teething problems.

Blood was not my favourite subject of the week. On Wednesday afternoon I had two small moles cut from my shoulder and neck and all seemed well. Come the evening and there was suddenly blood everywhere. I had six stitches in each due to being on Warfarin, which does increase the bleeding possibilities. It looked as if my girlfriend had stabbed me. We quickly got into St Mary’s A and E and they did a brilliant job – and stopped the bleeding with glue. I left with much gloy – or whatever brand they used!

We also attended the special tea at the Bluebells Café, Wootton, on Thursday afternoon to celebrate the life of a lovely man, Roy Brinton. I had known Roy a long time and always had great admiration for him. I also loved his sense of humour. I first met him as a Haylands shop owner but he went on to be much more locally famous as an historian, curator and author of Island books. He appeared on John Hannam Meets a couple of times. It was obvious the celebration proved a great comfort for his widow Ros. It was standing room only. Much deserved.
