WC SEPTEMBER 4.

I went to Warner’s Norton Grange, Yarmouth, on Monday to see one of their in-house production shows. This one featured songs from famous movies and I was so impressed with the energy and vitality of the young company. They worked so hard
and they were all very capable performers.

The sad death of Stephanie Slater brought back some happy memories of the day she came into the studio live to be on John Hannam Meets. Sadly, she died much too young. I only met her on a few occasions but loved her company. There is now a Hannam Archive, of that 2004 interview, now online. Just click the radio page of this website to call it up. I became so emotional all over again listening to her story of the kidnap and how she had overcome it.

I went to London on Thursday to meet my daughter for lunch and then I went to see Evita at the Phoenix Theatre. Caroline is the head of wardrobe on this superb show. It got a well deserved standing ovation.

Friday afternoon was put aside for my ‘At Home’ interview with MELVYN HAYES, currently in a great Channel 5 series called Celebrity 5 Go Motorhoming. We are actually doing a Film Festival together next year in Rickmansworth. Listen soon for the interview on a new podcast. He was, as ever, in fine form.
