Went to the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton, on Tuesday to interview John Bowler, from hit TV series like The Bill, Peak Practice, Castles, Steel River Blues and Watching. He is in Alchemy in the UK, with Geoffrey Freshwater, who has been in so many top series, including Foyle’s War, Midsomer Murders, Law and Order and so many Royal Shakespeare Company shows. Stayed on to see the show and they were both quite superb, as was the whole production. A modern play with a modern theme.
Went to see Beauty and the Beast at Shanklin Theatre on Thursday night – and was impressed with the quality of the production numbers. Well worth a visit but, on opening night, the orchestra drowned out some of the actors, particularly those who did not project or speak up – and they had microphones. A good night out and several outstanding performances – although one or two disappointed.
Went to Newchurch on Saturday night to watch Noises Off – and came away very impressed with the village group. They have enjoyed good houses. They can look back on this production with great satisfaction.
