TREVOR BAYLIS MEMORIES FLOOD BACK.

Back in 2011 John had an amazing day at the ramshackle home of world famous inventor Trevor Baylis, on Eel Pie Island. He’d never seen anything quite like it. When his sad death was announced, the happy and vivid memories came flooding back to John. Trevor, a wonderful eccentric, had gone to a lot of trouble to make John so welcome and he had lunch there – and heard so many fantastic stories. Trevor was a great fan of the Rolling Stones, who began their career playing a lot on Eel Pie Island. He gave John a signed copy of his autobiography.

“It was such a marvellous day out for me and I found out a lot about Eel Pie Island. There is just a small footbridge to get to it. Trevor was such fun to be with and I teased him about all the pictures of lovely ladies throughout his house. He was a bachelor – and made the most of it. Good for him. It’s been a sad week with both him and Roger Bannister passing away.”
